Tennessee School for the Blind Gym Renovation

The Tennessee School for the Blind (TSB) is enhancing its PK–12 campus with upgrades that align with its mission to foster independence, inclusivity, and self confidence for visually impaired students. Central to this commission is the expansion of the Gymnasium Building, featuring a new entrance and two gym spaces designed specifically for student competition, play, and learning. The gym addition incorporates meaningful design elements, including solid metal panels punctuated with a braille pattern spelling out the school’s name—illuminated at night for both architectural impact and student connection—and translucent wall panels that bring diffused daylight to the courts while softly glowing after dark. Complementing these improvements are site upgrades, including a renovated 25,000-square-foot playground at the heart of campus and ADA-compliant bathroom renovations, ensuring accessibility for all. Together, these enhancements create a supportive, inspiring environment for TSB’s students.
